Through brainstorming the idea just came to me. I’ve always loved stories about princess ever since I was little girl. In this day and age princess stories have evolved past being about a damsel in distress. Ever more common they are about girl power and self-empowerment.

I tried to include the idea that we all have the power within us. This has been personal struggle of mine battling self-doubt.

In my story the main character princess Mia is kidnapped by a dragon. Her most obvious want is to escape the dragons castle.

I did my best to make her needs obvious but they are little more subtle. What she really needs is to find her courage and self-empowerment. Her parents have raised her with all the skills she need to succeed and it’s up to her to find her power from within. Since there are multiple endings. In the ending where the prince helps her escape she learns the power of team work. The prince and her have to work together to escape. This ending still following along with finding her courage.

I struggled with coming up with the right decision points and branches. The being of the story was easy, introducing the characters and the setting.

It took a lot of thought and brainstorming to come up with beats that made the decisions make sense.

There were many difficult aspects of coming up with the story, everything from creating a dynamic character to incorporating three alternate endings. When coming up with a character I had trouble with Coming up with one ending is hard enough but three was quite challenging not to mention having to intertwine all three together.   On top of everything else fiction writing has never been my strong suit. I can easily come up with a story and make a film about it but when it comes to writing it I really get stuck.

I picked my character’s motivations because I believed other women my age could relate with the struggle of self-empowerment.
